THE PERKINS JOURNAL-THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1997 represe ns:Tryon Published By The Perkins-Tryon High School Journalism Class Dana Thompson excited about publishing of Petit Enfant By Carla Kliesen "This is my first one to get published. I am really excited. I hope that I can get more," said Dana Thompson, a freshman at Perkins- Tryon high school. The Petit Enfant, a piano piece, was published at Santa Barbara Publishers in California. It was sent there by Robert Ward, a professor at OSU. Thompson started the piece Nov. 19 1996 and finished it Dec. 1. She wrote it, but she also got a little help from Kent and Rosa Lee Taylor and Ward. Linda Shaw edited it. Thompson had taken piano lessons for five years. She is in band and choir at the time. In seventh grade, she started writing music. She has now finished five others. She plans on trying to get some of the others published. "I'm taking piano lessons from Rosa Lee Taylor and I really ap- preciate the help they are giving me. They are really special," said Thompson. (Editor's note: last week the Perkins Journal erroneously reported Dana Thompson as being a freshman'at OSU, rather than at Perkins- Tryon High School. We apologize for this error.)
