district titles

EARLSBORO - The
Coyle Bluejackets notched
a pair of lopsided wins last
weekend enroute to a Class
A district tournament win at
Earlsboro.
Coyle thumps Earlsboro
in the championship finals
by a 63-38 verdict Saturday
night. A first round 74-21
thumping of Dewar was
recorded last Friday night.
CHS continues its
post-season trek with sub-
regional tournament action
tonight at Tulsa Will
Rogers. Coyle will play
Cave Springs at 8 o'clock.
Main regional action will
move to Agra Friday and
Saturday.
Earlier in the week, the
Bluejackets won the inau-
gural regular season cham-
pionship of the Cimarron 7
Conference with a win over
Davenport at home.
Against Earlsboro,
Coyle broke open an 11-11
first quarter tie to lead 29-
22 at halftime. The Blue-
jackets stretched their lead
to 47-29 at the end of the
third quarter then continued
with a 16-9 fourth quarter
for the win.
Tony Aska led CHS with
22 points and 12 rebounds.
Jakobi Brown also recorded
a double-double with 13
pounds and 10 rebounds.
Also in double figures
were Domonique Payne
and Fidel Simpson with 12
points each.
Against Dewar, Coyle
put the game away with a
25-point first quarter out-
burst and followed with 20
second quarter points as an
encore.
After attaining the 45-13
halftime lead, the Bluejack-
ets outscored Dewar 29-8 in
the second half. DHS was
held scoreless in the third
quarter.
Payne led the way with
29 points with Aska fol-
lowing with 18 and 12
rebounds. Brown was the
leading rebounder with 16
boards.
The Bluejackets locked
up the inaugural Cimarron
7 Conference championship
last Tuesday night with an
82-44 win over the Daven-
port Bulldogs at home.
Coyle led 20-13 at the
end of the first quarter
then extended the margin
to 39-25 at halftime. CHS
outscored the Bulldogs 43-
19 in the second half.
Four Bluejackets fin-
ished in double figures led
by Payne with 25 points.
He also pulled down a
team-leading 12 rebounds
for a double-double. Aska
followed with 23 points and
Simpson added 14. Brown
chipped in 12 points.
