Eden Chapel United Methodist
By Rev. John Curtis
This Sunday is the right day for your visit to Eden
Chapel. Yes we believe that when you worship with us
you will find a home here on earth! We are that church
on the hill in the country that you have been looking for
but just keep driving by. You are invited to come out
and enjoy Sunday morning with us! Morning Commu-
nion is at 9:45am, Sunday School starts at 10am and
dismisses at 10:45, Morning Worship starts at 11am and
concludes around 12 noon. Our snack time is ready at
9am and available until 11am, come share coffee, juice
and donuts with us. i
It will be the Second Sunday of Lent at Eden Chapel.
Pastor John will be teaching from the book of Proverbs
11: 1—3 with the title being “Gap-Free Living”. Back in
the 1970’s when computers were rare and very simple, we
had a saying “Garbage In ~— Garbage Out” or “GIGO”. It
was very important to not fill the computer with corrupt
files or unnecessary information for what goes into the
memory will also come out. As a Pastor I now the con-
cept of GIGO is even more powerful and life-changing
when you apply it to our heart. What’s in your heart’s
well will always come up in the bucket. I like to think
of GIGO now as God In — God Out. If you are putting
God into your heart every day, thinking of him, studying
his word, talking to other about him, then God will come
out or up in the bucket. The real test comes when you’re
under pressure, when you are getting the squeeze, what
is coming out of your life —- God or Garbage?
So we hope to see you at Eden Chapel! You are always
invited on any Sunday to come out to Eden Chapel for
a visit and celebrate the living Christ with us! We are
located at the corner of 92nd Street and South Fairgrounds
road right outside of Perkins.

Sun, rain, time change: we’ll take it all in Oklahoma!
God is good! The fellowship was sweet in His house
this Sunday.
Debbie Sanders blessed us with a piano offertory “’Tis
So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” before the sermon for those
who came to celebrate Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Guest Transitional Pastor Brother Derek Dennis brought
the morning message from Luke 9:23-25. This is a strong
statement from Jesus to ALL those who would follow
him. Expanding the Kingdom of God can be exhausting
on our own strength, trying to do what we cannot with
what we do not have. We must realize that God is able
to do all things with all that He has. Life is like operating
with three gears, Drive, Neutral, or Reverse. We must be
moving forward, in D; not standing still (N) and definitely
not in R (reverse)! God’s church should be operating in
D! Relationships, not tradition, is most important with
our relationship with God being paramount. The biblical
message never changes , but methodology might need to

change to meet the needs of people. Knowledge of what
is absolute, what is compromisable, what really matters
and dying to self is a good place to start.
Tobie Sanders sang an old favorite “God Leads His
People Along” before the evening sermon.
Bro. Dennis shared his testimony of growing up near
Wellston and moving on to college at Central State/
UCO having met his wife there. He dealt with several
struggles during his early life, but eventually received
Christ through the director and wife of the Baptist Student
Union/Baptist Collegiate Ministry. The vibrant, zealous
love for the Lord of the couple made an impact on his life.
Even as a believer, he continued to have a few struggles,
but realized he could find mercy and grace before the
throne of God because He is a good, good Father!
By the time this paper gets in print, the AWANA
Clubbers will have celebrated memorizing 500 verses
by having a pizza party! This is a super program for
children to learn the Word of God and have fun doing it!
Some IBC ladies will be attending the Cimarron Baptist
Association Spring Ladies’ Retreat on Mar. 30. There is
still room if you would like to go, call the church office.
Ladies Bible study and discussion still meet Tues.
mornings at 10am and Men’s Bible study happens on
Tues. evening at 7pm at the former Perkins Drug building.
Come visit us at 241 5 E 104,just a mile north of Perkins.

Sunday, our Pastor, Paul Dawson, brought the message
“You’re Going to Miss Me” from John 14:1-7. This is
the first message in a series entitled “Promises Made;
Promises Kept.” Today’s scriptures tell about Jesus’
farewell address to his disciples at the last supper. His
remarks had given them quite a lot to think about. Jesus
had told‘them, “The time has come for me, the Son of
Man, to enter into my glory. And God will bring me into
my glory very soon. Then, though you search for me, you
cannot come to me.” Jesus had also told them, “The truth
is, one of you will betray me!” Plus he had told Peter,
“Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will
deny three times that you even know me.”
Christ was naturally aware of his disciples concerns
about him leaving this world and returning to his Father.
He promised them he would prepare rooms for them in
his Father’s home. When ready, he would come get them.
Until then, they should trust him and not worry. Christ
promised to send the Holy Spirit as his representative,
promised that anything asked in his name would be given,
that they could have peace of mind and heart knowing
he was going back to the Father, and that Satan had no
power over him and therefore no power over them.
Christ’s message to us today is exactly the same one he
gave to his disciples. He has kept his promise of sending
us the Holy Spirit and his promise of giving anything
asked in his name. This Holy Spirit is the very presence
of God within us and helping us to live as he wants us

to live. Christ has given us a commandment to love
each other. It’s time we realize the power and promise
Christ’ love has given us and start acting on acting on
it. Love is the most powerful motivator in the world. It
conquers all fear.

Today’s power verse: John 14:19 “Before long, the
world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.
Because I live, you also will live.”
God’s promise to you: Proverbs 28:20
Because He Livesli
When I was a young boy. growing up on the farm, we
had rules to live by. Rules like, eat everything on your
plate and stir up all the sugar in your tea. The kids in
China are starving! Never drive up a hill on the wrong
side of the road. You might have to face your neighbor
coming at you with his John Deere tractor! Don’t...
Don’t... Don’t... Every rule was a ‘don’t.’
Then I grew up one day, as a young man, I realized
that Jesus changed it all. He said for us to DO. Yes,
go do! “Do unto others what you would have them do
to you!” He said for us to do, by praying and believ-
ing at the same time. Yes, we are to be like Him! He
never said a prayer without total belief in what he was
praying for.
In order for us to be happy and live life to the fullest
here, as well as hereafter, we must put on the very mind
of Christ. Yes, The bible tells us to, “be made new in the
attitude of our minds, and to put on the new self, created
to be like Him,” It even tells us to, “Speak the truth
in love,” and when we do we become, in every respect,
mature and built up in Him. (Ephesians 4th Chapter)
Yes, and as we speak the truth in love and begin to “Do
everything in love.”( lst Corinthians 16:14) We become
like Him and people around us begin to see Jesus living
in us. Worry, goes ouf the window, confidence increases
and our faith leads us to go and DO!
Yes, we begin to live life to the fullest and we realize
that joy is not found in things, Joy is in us! Praise God
for our JESUS!
Have a great PCA* week!
