Acker said she plans to
emphasize the importance of
a personal relationship with
God. "God doesn't want your
efforts." she said. "He wants
a relationship.
"Also. I plan to emphasize
the importance of praYer. We
all have a lot of things going
on in our lives that we need to
talk to Him about."
She said she is looking
forward to helping with the
construction. "'A lot of loc als
will be helpin us," she said.
"The mismon asks them'
what they need, and we just
try to help them," Acker
added. "We'll be very busy:
I'm really excited."
Acker and the rest of the team
have been busy with fundrais-
ing projects in preparation for
the trip. StiUwater businesses
Orange Tree and Chick-Fil-A
have donated a percentage of
one day's dining proceeds to
the team. Q'doba in Stillwa-
ter will also donate ! 0 percent
of profits on April 13 and 15.
To help. diners only need put
their receipt in the Wildcard
bucket by the cashregister.
An anonymous donor has
provided funds for construc-
tion materials, Acker said.
The group welcomes cash
donations, too,
"Financial donations don't
have to be much - even $10
will make a difference,"
she said. "" If someone can't
donate but they want to
be a part. we always need
prayer.
Acker said. "We're really
cutting comers as much as
possible and being frugal
with that money."
Acker said she has raised
$1.770 to pay for trip
expenses, but she needs an
additional $3,845 by May 1.
While preparing for the trip,
the team was advised to not let
itoverwhelm them.
"We were told 'Don't go
expecting to change the
world, but rather expect to
help two or three people,'"
Acker said. "I'm really look-
ing forward to meeting those
two or three people."
