Gun Hearing
Set Sept. 25
A "ninth" public hearing
for opinion regarding the
setting of the primitive
firearms deer regulations
will be at 10 a.m., Sept. 25th
at the auditorium of the
Oklahoma Department of
Wildlife Conservation.
The extra public hearing,
in addition to eight others
conducted at points across
the state during May and
June by the Department. was
authorized by the Oklahoma
Wildlife Conservation Com-
mission following allegations
the board did not fully follow
requirements of the Admire
istrative Procedures Act in
setting regulations for the
primitive firearms deer hunt
at the July Commission
meeting.
Petitions bearing hum
dreds of names of LeFIore
County and McCurtain Coun-
ty regular gun deer hunters
were submitted to the
Commission at the earlier
hearings, objecting to the
primitive firearms deer hunt
being conducted immedi-
ately preceding the statewide
gun deer hunt. Growing
complaints the past few
years have alleged the
primitive firearms hunters
"spooked" deer and made
hunting more difficult during
the regular gun hunt.
The Commission respond-
ed by setting the primitive
firearms deer hunt concur~
rent with the regular
nine-day gun hunt with a
special primitive firearms
hunt December 8-14 in
LeFIore, Pushmataha and
McCurtain Counties. the
Tishomingo Game Mange-
meat Unit, and Hulah. Fort
Supply and Oologah Public
Hunting Areas. The hunts at
Tishomingo and Oologah are
new primitive firearms areas
over previous seasons.

Shirts Aid Fashion Look
Shirts make this year's
three-piece outfit into a
multi-piece wardrobe and add
fashion interest to last year's
skirts and pants.
Popular fabrics for these
silhouettes arc the scenic and
engineered prints. Engineered
prints have a large scale motif
designed for special placement
on apparel.
Border designs are making a
comeback and are also turning
up in fashion shirts, says Mary
Lou Sadler, Extension clothing
specialist at Oklahoma State
University.
Interest in this fashion is
reflected in the price. They
begin at $20 with many of the
popular ones selling up to $40.
Until recently, persons who
sew at home did not see the
point in sewing a shirt because
it was relatively inexpensive to
buy, With ready . to - wear
prices so high, it's economical
to do-it-yourself.
Scenic, border and engine-
ered prints are offered in
fabrics for home sewing. Some
pattern companies are design-
ing patterns especially plan-
ned for these fabrics.
An excellent example of an
engineered print is one with a
motif repeated every 30
inches. These panels allow for
placement of the design on a
tank top or a regular shirt.
Don't let the high cost of
ready-to-wear clothing keep
you from enjoying fashion's
latest offerings. Sewing is fun
and economical.
Fished In
Woman asked her husband.
"How many fish was it that you
caught Saturday? .... Six," he
replied, "all beauties," She coun-
tered, "I thought so. That fish
shop has made another mistake,
They've charged us for eight."
