Central Tech School
Vote Announced
Tuesday, November 14th has
been set for Area District vot-
ers to approve a 3 mill opera-
tional levy for Central levy for
Central Oklahoma Area Voca-
tional-Technial School, Dist. no.
3.
The area board is asking the
citizens of the district to auth-
orize a levy not to exceed 3 mi-
lls.. This operational levy will
be used in the fiscal year 1968-69
for hiring an administrator, pl-
anning a building and making
surveys regardng courses to be
offered. The remainder of the
amount will be used for cap-
ital out-lay-purchasing of site
and some equipment. Operation-
al funds for a vo-tech school
are on a matching basis. State
"and federal funds have been
authorized for 50 per cent of
the cost, and area citizens will
provide 50 percent through the
levy, not to exceed 3 mills.
An open meeting is scheduled
in Sapulpa, Octobor 10th. 7:30
P.M. at the OG&E Building for
public information. Several oth-
er meetings will be held in early
November within the area dis-
trict.
The Area District was formed
in April 1967 when 30 school
districts in Creek, Payne and
Lincoln Counties voted to cre-
ate a vocational-technical en-
tity to provide an educational
program too expensive
for the individual dis-
tricts. This w/ made by Okla-
homa citizens' approval of State
Question 434 which provided
that an area could vote up to
and including 5 mills for oper-
ation of an area vocational tec-
hnical district, but could not
abligate itself to more than 5
perecnt of its valuation for
building, site and equipment.
