The Perkins-Tryon De-
mons traveled to Tonkawa
last Friday night to battle the
Buccaneers. P-T was slow
getting started as it was in
the fourth period before the
Demons lit the scoreboard.
Tonkawa, in the meantime,
pulled out a TD in each
quarter to pirate the game
33-8.
The Demons were unable
to move the ball to pay-dirt
the first half as the first
quarter ended with the
Buccaneers up 6-0. And
Tonkawa added 13 points in
the second period to go away
st the half with a 19-0 stretch
over the Demons.
The third quarter went
scoreless for the Demons,
while the Buccaneers added
7 to move out 26-0.
A five yard scramble early
in the fourth quarter by Greg
Baker put the Demons on the
board with 6 while Dwayne
Deaver capped off the P-T
scoring drive of 8 with the
two point conversion. Tonka-
wa finished the period by
adding 7 points. And the
game ended with the
Demons falling to a 33-8 loss.
P-T will venture to
Edmond next week to take on
Deer Creek in an important
district game.
"It seems that at least
once a year we have a game
where we can not do
anything right," remarked
Coach McIlvain. "I hope this
was the one. I do feel, after
thinking about the game for
48 hours, that it was not all
this that caused us to lose. l
believe that I did not prepare
the team as much for this
game as for the district
games that are coming up
this next three weeks. It is
hard to tell when you have a
team mentally ready to play.
You think they are ready and
they are not or you don't
know for sure, and they are.
"We were down at half
time, but the kids came back
and played real good the last
quarter when they didn't
give up and showed that they
could play good football. It
wasjust too late then.
"I believe our kids will
make a better performance
this week at Deer Creek of
Edmond," Coach added. "It
is a district game and a
MUST win for us."

The Perkins-Tryon Junior
High Football Teams reciev-
ed their second victory of the
season against Davenport.
We opened the 1st quarter
when we received the ball in
our own territory.
On the fourth down we ran
the reverse, and J. P. Oliver
ran for a touchdown, with
Mark Irwin making a
fantastic block.
For the reat of the game
the Demons held a tough
defense against Davenport.
The defensive line included:
Mark Irwin and Steve Dearer
at Defensive Ends. We had
anew player at noseguard
who played a remarkable
game. his name is David
Bates. Danny Colvin played
tackle.
On offense we had Barry
Moreland at quarterback and
Mitch McKosato later on.
Steve Cole and Wade Fields
at halfback, and George
Murray at fullback. The line
consisted of Jerry Payne,
Steve Dearer, David Sasser,
David Chaney, Danny Col.
vin, Mark Irwin, Freddie
Pitts and J. P. Oliver.
Credit goes to both the
offensive and defensive
teams of Perkins.
Steve Dearer made a
number of smash tackles,
along with Mark Irwin. In the
second quarter Danny Colvin
was moved to Middle
Linebacker and made a
number of assisted tackles.
Wade Fields made a
smashing tackle on number
44 of Davenport and he was
stunned momentarily.
Injuries include a pinched
nerve in the side of Barry
Mooreland. George Murray
had a flogged leg, and Mark
Irwin had a few mental
problems this game. He
struck head-on and had
slight forgetfulness.
Offense wasn't our high-
light, but we did O.K.
"Everyone has improved
and they are all playing with
more enthusiasm," beamed
Coach Lauener.
I would like to thank
Danny Colvin and Rick
Lomenick for helping me
with this report.
