AGRA BAPTIST CHURCH

As we all prepare our homes for winter, get out our warm clothes and
plan for our physical comfort now as the cold weather sets ins, also
planning for reunions and big dinners as Thanksgiving is near, how
many of us are preparing for our spiritual life which is for always, not
just a day or a season?
Brother Jim Reed's message from Gen. 3:1-13, entitled "The greatest
con man in the world" or "Wiles of the Devil", emphasized three points:
(1) [the Devil] denies God's word is true; can lie about God's word, mean-
ing what God has said, then tries to make us believe God won't do what
He promises if we disobey Him; (2)the Devil questions God's goodness;
tells us exactly what we want to hear - we know it's wrong to say or do
some things, but go ahead for the thrill of it; and (3) the Devil tries to
be just like God, only in evil ways. The Devil's was leads away from
God and causes unhappiness and broken homes, loss of fellowship with
believers. So, do we want to be orphans or a child of God?
Evening Bible study was from Eph. 6:17B, the continuation of full
armor of God, the sword which is God's word, and how we can use
double-bladed sword in offense and defense: (1) read the Bible daily;
(2) listen to hear what God is saying to us; (3) pray in our hearts for
guidance; (4) obey the truth always; (5) communicate with other Chris-
tians; (6) look for promises and accept them; (7) look for command-
ments and obey them; (8) look for examples of people in the Bible that
have the same problems you do and follow them; (9) look for the sins in
your life and avoid them; and (10) look for problems and go to God for
the solution.
Wednesday night Bible study is from Acts. Team KIDS will be at 7:30
p.m.
We have so many famiiies w th the flu and other illness; we're all in
prayer for them. •
We hope everyone will include this in our prayers: "Lord, You have
been mighty good to me; what can I do for You?"
LOST CREEK UNITED METHODIST
by Linda K. Edmondson
"Welcome and greetings" were by Max Rudd. The choir sang a special
titled "Oh, How I Love Jesus". Abigail Smith was christened and the
entire Smith family joined Lost Creek membership.
Rudd's sermon was "Protection", part four in a series "What Jesus
Prays for You". Text was from John 17:11-15. God has His eye on you
and protects you always. Even though it may seem that He has aban-
doned you and let the Devil have his way, God is there and you need
only ask for His help. He kne@ we could not make it on our own, and
Jesus prayed for us with Him final breath that our Heavenly Father
would always protect us. Sunday evening services include praise,
prayers and healing.

The sun came out finally and everyone was

music was better than usual with the extra voices.
beautiful solo about the precious blood Jesus shed for us.
and other hymns we sang made us ready for Pastor's
Albert's message came from scripture pertaining
Jesus and clarified why God would sacrifice His own
tals. Without this we could have no confidence in the
die our soul goes on forever. If God is in charge, it should"
have been different rules and allow there
and not Jesus' "blood".
Mankind's sins are so bad and God is so holy He wantS
sin is important and vile, and He implemented the
a sacrifice as an appeasement for sin. An Israelite
lamb and the blood caught up in a bowl. Half of it
other half would go for various purifications.
