County Commission approves software contract By Van Mitchell Journal Staff Writer S'TILLWATER — The Payne County Commission— ers Monday approved a six- month contract with Zencity, a company that develops software-as-a—service based solutions to help municipal- ities understand the needs of their residents. The company offers an artificial intelligence-based software that collects and analyses interactions across all communication plat- forms, such as social media, municipal hotline, and other relevant databases. The com- pany helps to find the trends, topics, and sentiments in citizens’ discusSions for city management and planning and curates them on a dash- board. The company caters to local governments. “They sort it (information), they analyze it and give it to us so we know what is going on with the people in the county,” said Dis— trict 2 Commissioner Chris Reding. The Commissioners approved a resolution for a surplus vehicle from the Yale Fire Department to the City of Jennings Fire Depart- ment. Jennings will receive a 1992 El pumper truck. In other matters, the Com- missioners approved a proc- lamation for Wreaths Across America at Fairlawn Ceme- tery on Monday, Dec. 7. Each December on National. Wreaths Across America Day, its mission to remember, honor and teach is carried Out by coordinat- ing wreath-laying c‘eremo- nies at Arlington National Cemetery , as well as at more than 2,100 additional loca- tions in all 50 US. states, at sea and abroad. National Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 19. “We are showing sup- port to honor our veterans,” Reding said. In their COVID- 19 update, the Commissioners announced the death of a county employee. ~ “The (COVID) numbers are going down, but we lost a county employee last week,” Reding said. “He was one of (District 3 Com- missioner) Rocky (Blasi- -er’s) guys.” Every year Santa shares with The Journal readers some of the letters he receives from Perkins-Tryon Pre-K and A Kindergarten students.
