THE PERKINS JOURNAL, Thursday003-7 : Students attend SWOSU choral camp i l Around 130 students from around Oklahoma attended Southwestern Oklahoma State Univer- sity's annual choral camp held June15-18 on the Weatherford campus. The junior high and high school students participated in various activities, including a talent show, and worked on music in preparation for a final concert on the last day of camp. Among those attending were (from " left): Dorothy Hoskin, Cushing; Becky Pruitt, Rachel Oestmann, Jana Fisher and Kierra Morlatt, all " of Agra; and Caleb Carroll, Perkins. Carter receives $1,000 scholarship Stiilwater Wal-Mart associates are helping a local high school senior realize a dream by award- ing Stacey Carter a $1,000 col- lege scholarship. Stacey Carter recently received a Sam Walton Com- munity Scholarship, part of the Sam Walton Community Leader Award program sponsored by Wal-Mart associates. This year more than 3,000 scholarships totaling more than $8 million are being awarded to deserving students in Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB communi- ties across the country. Stacey Carter, a senior at Perkins- Tryon, received this award based On her strong academic performance and involvement in school and community activities. "We're pleased to support Stacey Carter in her pursuit of higher education and wish her the very best in the years ahead," said David Mooneyhan, manager.
